What is Why Quilts Matter? That’s the documentary two-DVD set that Darra Williamson wrote about in the June 2012 issue of TQL. It’s an important and engaging look at quilting and its importance. As a quilter you may think you already that, but as our article pointed out, there’s still a lot you don’t know, or have already forgot about, that is still important.
Darra let me know that she has a set of the WQM DVDs to give away on her blog, http://seehowwesew.wordpress.com/2012/07/27/what-is-why-quilts-matter-and-why-should-it-matter-to-you-tell-us-and-win/ and she thought our readers would like to know about it. Thanks, Darra!
It’s going to be a good weekend to kick back and watch the series!
For those of you who missed the June TQL, it’s still available.
Jan Magee, The Quilt Life

Quilt matter because they are artwork from the heart with fabrics especially picked out to make the most beautiful quilt possible. I think I will quilt til the day I die, hopefully.
The reason Quilts Matter is because it is the legacy I will leave to my children & grandchildren & the generations to come. My many quilts will be here long after I’m gone, through them I will be able to connect with future generations.
Quilts matter because they tell the women’s history of the US. Many of the papers and other “official” records of our country’s history focus on men, but the quilts that were made tell about what life was like for the “average” woman and family.
