Stockholm Star: Step 6: Joining the patches

Here’s where you can see why I cut the patches with the template – those cut corners make matching the diamonds a breeze. I’m not going to try to chain piece this – it’s too easy to get confused. Adding the patches one at a time might seem like taking the long way, but “unsewing” takes time, too.
I press the seam allowances open to reduce bulk. These seams don’t “nestle” the way  seams joining square patches do. That rule about never pressing seam allowances open comes from the bad old days when we had to worry about batting bearding through the seams (and even through the fabric)… Jan Magee, The Quilt Life
