Debra Lunn and Michael Mrowka’s quilt Artisan Star (the pattern in the June TQL that inspired Stockholm Star) is stunning. I knew right away I wanted to make the pattern, but I wanted to see how it would look in different fabrics. A line from Robert Kauffman caught my eye. Stockholm reminded me of home dec fabrics in the 1960s and Danish modern furniture. What I like about these prints is the variety of patterns and scale, not to mention that lime green is my favorite color, followed closely by orange. The collection has three colorways, and I chose fabrics from all of them to keep the quilt from being too “matchy-matchy.” I got a half yard each of 10 different prints (even though I only “need” eight) plus a three yards for the backing. I couldn’t wait to get started.
