She was hot then

Referring to Sunbonnet Sue, that is, the subject of Ricky’s article in the TQL August issue. But surprise, she’s gaining popularity again. And with the Sunbonnet Sue Block Contest related to Ricky’s article, Sue has taken on some very 21st century interests. Today I saw a surprising post about Sue in the 1970s by Laura Nownes on her See How We Sew blog. Just yesterday, a friend at my exercise class mentioned that she had started a Sunbonnet Sue quilt decades ago, still unfinished. She never made the leap to “catching the bug” (but there’s still time). I mentioned to her that Sue is hot again and her interest perked up. So I’ll take her a copy of the August issue to bring her up to date. You never know what’s going to be the trigger in creating a new quilter!
