It’s the second full day of International Quilt Market in Houston, where business and quilting converge. Buyers from all over the world (quilt shop owners, designers, web companies, etc.) have the opportunity to meet with hundreds of quilt-related sellers, not only to place orders but also to see new trends, learn more about the industry, and network with fellow business associates and friends.
Quilt Market is also fun! I had the opportunity to chat with Ty Pennington, star of ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover – Home Edition show. He was here to introduce and promote his new Impressions line of fabric for Free Spirit.
AQS Publishing has a booth at Quilt Market every year, introducing our newest authors and taking wholesale orders for the wonderful books you’ll see on quilt shop shelves in the near future. In the photo at the top, Annemart Berendse signs copies of her popular new title, Decorate Your Shoes.
Our special guest at the AQS booth this year was good old Saint Nick himself, here to celebrate the release of Mary Buvia’s new book from AQS Publishing, Santa’s Loading Dock Quilt. Mary’s goal in writing this book was to “bring a smile to your face and happiness to your heart while you create your own vision of Christmas.” And Santa himself certainly brought a smile to the faces of those who had fun offering up their Christmas wish lists. “Santa, I think I was a very good editor this year…please bring me a new sewing machine.”
