This summer, August 22-25, 2012, the AQS Quilt Show & Contest will be held at the DeVos Place Convention Center in downtown Grand Rapids! This magnificent facility is pillar free giving us a wide open space to display hundreds of quilts and our merchant mall. The public is welcome to attend this show of fiber art.

Amway Grand Hotel is the headquarters hotel and is connected to the convention center. Across the street we have rooms at the JW Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott. Each hotel has its own parking garage. The room rate for all three of these hotels is $114 plus taxes. The rules are available for the AQS Quilt Contest in Grand Rapids. You can read or print the rules here. The deadline is May 7, 2012, but you can enter your quilt at any time before that. There is $44,000 in cash awards, with the Best of Show winner receiving $10,000.

I live in Southwestern Ontario and I’m very glad to have an AQS show so much closer, only about 5 hrs. driving for me. I do like Paducah and will still be going in 2012 but that is about a 13 hr. drive.
We recently went to a James Taylor concert in Grand Rapids, it is a great venue and a beautiful city!

This is going to be a wonderful experience for all of you who attend the AQS show in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We have a beautiful, clean, modern and cultural downtown setting with everything you could possibly need all within close proximity. You won’t need to rent a car here. West Michigan natives are warm and friendly, and always available to help you. Just ask. This is wonderful for me. I’m only 5 minutes from the show!!!
I am so happy AQS is going to be in Grand Rapids. I’ve never been able to attend the other shows and this is only an hours drive for me..YAY!!
Grand Rapids is as wonderful as is portrayed in this video. I say that as a visitor and participant of ArtPrize, an amazing exhibition and competition by artists from all over the world. My entries in that show for the past two years have been exhibited in DeVos Place which is a fabulous building in a great location. I look forward to attending the AQS Quilt Show there this next August as well as ArtPrize in September and October.
I just sent off an entry to this contest…first time entering an AQS contest…Grand Rapids is a beautiful city, both my parents were born there and grew up there! Still have relatives there! Hope to get accepted into the show so I can travel to see it on display! I live an hour west of Chicago so it is possible.
